Doris J. King,78, Burr Oak, Mich., died Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at Parkview LaGrange Hospital.
She was born December 28, 1933, in LaGrange County, to Carl J. Sr. and Margaret R. (Adair) Marks.
Spending her early life in LaGrange County before moving to Sturgis, Mich., and then to Burr Oak, Mich., in May 1962, she was a 1952 graduate of LaGrange High School and retired in 1995 from Lear Sigler Corporation in Mendon, Mich., after 25 years. She also worked at Burr Oak Rubber Products in Burr Oak, Mich., and Freeman Manufacturing Company in Sturgis, Mich.
She was married February 20, 1953, in LaGrange, to John M. King. He preceded her in death on October 21, 2011.
Surviving are two daughters, Teresa King, Burr Oak, Mich., and Peggy Kight, Sturgis, Mich.; one son, Gregory King, Sturgis, Mich.; one granddaughter, Laura Kight, Sturgis, Mich.; three stepgranddaughters, Karen Prough, Sturgis, Mich., Dawn Heard, Aurora, Ill., and Brandy Kight, Battle Creek, Mich.; 11 stepgreat-grandchildren; one sister, Marjorie Toth, Perrysburg, Ohio; two brothers, Carl J. (Gloria) Marks, Sturgis, Mich., and Frank Marks, Pioneer, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Bolander and Dorothy Lance, and one brother, William Marks.
Memorial graveside services will take place at a later date in Burr Oak Cemetery, Burr Oak, Mich., with Reverend Steve Bean officiating.
