Dennis L. Thompson, 67, Topeka, died Sunday, February 10, 2013 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Ft. Wayne, Ind.
He was born January 19, 1946, in Sturgis, Mich., to Wayne L. and June (Bower) Thompson.
Living most of his life in Topeka, he was a farmer and mechanic. He was a Vietnam veteran, serving in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Rome City American Legion Post 381 and attended the New Freedom Baptist Church in LaGrange.
He was married February 2, 1995, in LaGrange, to Jackie Hale. She survives.
Also surviving is one son, Dennis L. Thompson Jr., Topeka; two stepdaughters, Iolet Risedorph and Julie Stacy, both of Kendallville, Ind.; one stepson, James Stacy, Topeka; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one sister and her fiancé, Marjorie Thompson and Tom Watson, Schererville, Ind.; and a close friend, Toby Troyer, Topeka.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services were held Thursday, February 14, at Frurip-May Funeral Home in LaGrange with Reverend Wade Sturdivant officiating.
Burial is in Eden Cemetery, Topeka.
