DeKalb took a pair of varsity softball decisions from Lakeland last Friday night in LaGrange.
In the first game, an RBI single by Moreland in the top of the ninth inning gave the Lady Barons a 2-1 victory. The safety scored Barrett, who led off the frame with a single and was sacrificed to second base.
DeKalb took a 1-0 lead in the fourth, only to have the Lady Lakers tie the game in the sixth. Karissa Troyer’s sacrifice fly plated Madison Campbell with the Lakeland run. Campbell had tripled in front of Troyer.
Ashlynn Grubb suffered her first loss of the season for the Lady Lakers. She gave up five hits, walked one and struckout 15.
The Lady Barons won a wild, 9-6 decision in the nightcap. Four hits, two walks and a couple of Lakeland errors led to a five-run DeKalb seventh which put the game away.
Campbell drilled three hits and Grubb lined two with two RBI to pace Lakeland at the plate. Jill Mingus, Abby Bustos and Kizzie Trinh each poked RBI hits.
Paige Gust took the pitching loss.
The 21-6 Lady Lakers host a 3A sectional this week. Their first game is scheduled for Tuesday night against West Noble.
