Dean Hoggatt, 86, LaGrange, died Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at Parkview LaGrange Hospital.
He was born August 11, 1926, in Herbst, Ind., to Wilbur K. and Esta M. (Sprinkle) Hoggatt.
Moving from Mishawaka, Ind. to LaGrange in 1953, he was a World War II veteran, serving in the Air Force. He owned several different businesses over the years. He was a self-employed contractor, real estate broker, and owned the LaGrange Motel from 1957-1973. He was a member of the LaGrange Church of Christ and a former member of the Board of Trustees for Camp Indogan in Angola and Rochester College, Rochester Hills, Mich.
He was married March 12, 1949, in Lafayette, Ind., to Thelma M. Campbell. She preceded him in death on August 14, 2010.
Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, Kathleen and Kenneth Long, Kingsland, Ga., Lesly and Chad Brock, Nashville, Tenn., and Jean and Jeff Carter, Charleston, S.C.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Kent and Debi Hoggatt, Lapeer, Mich., and Brian and Julie Hoggatt, Middlebury; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one sister, Julia Gould, Marion, Ind.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, and four brothers.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday, January 18, at LaGrange Church of Christ.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, January 19, at LaGrange Church of Christ with Norman Herron and Kent Hoggatt officiating.
Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, LaGrange.
