The deadlines for the General Election on Nov. 6 are approaching for filings as well as voter registration.
People wanting to file for school board seats may pick up a CAN-34 Petition at the LaGrange County Clerk’s office. Filings must be returned by noon on Friday, Aug. 24. (See related article.)
Voter registration may be done before the General Election. Registrations may also be done at the clerk’s office or voter registration office. An individual may also submit an application or transfer online at www.indianavoters.com. Voter registration closes on Tuesday, Oct. 9, and opens again after the General Election on Monday, Dec. 3.
Absentee voting begins at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 9, and ends at noon on Monday, Nov. 5. Absentee voting hours will be 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday at the LaGrange County Courthouse. It will also be available from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27, and Saturday, Nov. 3.
Voters may request an absentee ballot be mailed to them by calling 260-499-6392. An absentee application must be signed and returned before a ballot can be mailed and the last day a ballot can be mailed is Monday, Oct. 29.
Applications for absentee voting are currently available at the clerk’s office.
A valid government-issued photo ID is required in order to vote.
