The LaGrange County Friends of the Parks are working to collect items for a country auction to be held during this year’s David Rogers Festival, and got off to a good start with a donation of a patio table and chair set from Raber Patio Enclosures and Furniture in Shipshewana.
The poly furniture set, made entirely from recycled plastic, will be a centerpiece of the auction, set for 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24. Also in the auction will be food items, hand tools, toys, home goods, and more.
This is the second year that the Friends of the Parks have hosted the country auction for David Rogers Days, with all of the proceeds going to help the organization support park programs. Last year, the group assisted with the purchase of land at Dallas Lake County Park.
Donations of items are still being accepted up to Aug. 24. For more information or to donate, contact Kathy Hopper at 350-3036 or Guy Thompson at 350-8008.
David Rogers Days is held at David Rogers Memorial Park on CR 550S between Topeka and Wolcottville. Programs start at 10 a.m. Saturday and includes music, a Punch and Judy Puppet Show, the traveling medicine show, kid’s activities and more.
