David A. Legg, PhD., 66, Ft. Wayne, Ind., died Saturday, July 5, 2014 at his residence.
He was born September 7, 1947 to Otis D. and Maryellen (Harter) Legg.
He was a graduate of Purdue University, earning a B.S. in 1969, M.S. in 1970 and PhD. in 1973, and was a professor of mathematics at IPFW since 1974, serving as chair of the mathematics department for 13 years. He also served as the associate dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and assistant vice chancellor of IPFW. He was a member of Sigma Xi Honor Society, Pi Mu Epsilon Mathematics Honor Society and Sigma Pi Physics Honor Society.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Colette E. (Houck) Legg; sons, Alan Legg, of Lafayette and Eric Legg, of Indiana; daughter, Lisa (Joel) Bregin, of Fort Wayne; brother, Steve (Valerie) Legg, of Wyoming.
Funeral service will be 11 am Wednesday July 9, at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road, Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior to service. Calling will also be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm, Tuesday July 8, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery, Fort Wayne.
