David T. Glanders, 81, Elkhart, Ind., died Sunday, April 29, 2012 at the Elkhart Hospice House.
He was born October 18, 1930, in Elkhart, Ind., to Walter E. and Jeanie G. (Lavery) Glanders.
He was a Korean War veteran, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a sheet metal worker at Henry Weiss Company for more than 20 years and was later employed at Schult Homes prior to his retirement. He was a lifetime member of DAV #19 in Elkhart and F&AM Lodge #193 in Elkhart.
He was married April 24, 1964, in Elkhart, to Patricia E. (Marks) Glanders. She survives.
Also surviving are four sons, David P. Glanders, Ukiah, Calif., Michael R. Glanders, Laytonville, Calif., Richard A. (Mary) Glanders, Willits, Calif., and Rocco T. Glanders, Mishawaka, Ind.; two daughters, Carrie A. Glanders, Elkhart, Ind., and Lori J. (Gary) Reeve, LaGrange; 15 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two grandchildren, one great-grandchild, two brothers, Walter S. and James G. Glanders, and two sisters, Dorothy J. Glanders and Jean Stackhouse.
Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 3, at Billings Funeral Home in Elkhart, Ind.
His cremated remains will be placed in the Veteran Towers at Prairie Street Cemetery in Elkhart at a later date with military honors provided by the U.S. Marine Corps and the DAV #19.
