Daniel Bontrager

Daniel W. Bontrager, 69, LaGrange, died Friday, October 17, 2014 at Parkview LaGrange Hospital.

    He was born May 8, 1945, in Sturgis, Mich., to William J. and Ada (Miller) Bontrager.

    He was a retired farmer and after his retirement worked for Riegsecker Marketplace in Shipshewana. He was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.

    He was married September 30, 1965, in Noble County, to Joann Miller. She survives.

    Also surviving are one daughter, Waneta Sue (Ervin) Miller, Topeka; three sons, Larry (Freda) Bontrager, LaGrange, Lonnie (Michelle) Bontrager, Millersburg, and Leon (Ellen) Bontrager, Middlebury; 14 grandchildren; four sisters, Anna Kauffman and Mattie Bontrager, both of LaGrange, and Emma (Daniel) Beechy and Ada Bontrager, both of Topeka; and three brothers, Amos (Mattie) Bontrager, Kingston, Wisc., Ervin Bontrager, Topeka, and Enos (Anna Marie) Bontrager, Shipshewana.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Elmer Bontrager, a brother-in-law, Daniel Kauffman, and two sisters-in-law, Martha Bontrager and Ida Bontrager.

    Funeral service was held Monday, October 20, at the family residence, 7045W 050S in LaGrange, with Bishop Ervin L. Yoder and home ministers officiating.

    Burial is in Yoder Cemetery, Shipshewana.
