Cyclists taking to Pumpkinvine Trail Saturday

Close to 1,500 cyclists are expected this weekend as the Friends of the Pumkinvine Trail hold their annual bike ride.

The event, which started in 2000 with only 225 riders, attracted over 1,300 riders last year, and organizers are expecting even more in 2013.

Riders will be starting from the Shipshewana Flea Market or Abshire Park in Goshen Saturday morning, beginning as early as 7 a.m. Registration is available at the start locations the day of the ride.

The routes include portions of the Pumpkinvine Trail along with county roads, and range from 21 miles up to 100 miles, and stretch from Bonneyville Mill to Twin Lakes near Howe, through Shipshewana and Middlebury, and southwest to Goshen.
