Cross Country reginal results

Prairie Heights junior Aspen Dirr extended her cross country campaign by at least another week when she placed 10th at the West Noble regional meet this past Saturday.

Dirr completed the layout in a time of 19:28.57, the fourth- best clocking among individuals not on a participating team. The effort earned her a spot in the IHSAA semi-state meet to be held on the campus of IPFW in Fort Wayne this Saturday at 1 p.m.

Lindsay Marriott of Leo led the group of individuals advancing from West Noble, as she finished second overall in a time of 18:53.63. The others were Samantha Roush of Columbia City (fifth in 19:03.27), Alexia Zawadzke of East Noble (ninth in 19:19.56), Krista McCormick of DeKalb (11th in 19:30.90), Josey Korte of Angola (12th in 19:32.39), Brittany Fensler of Fort Wayne Snider (13th in 19:34.69), Maranda Malcolm of Garrett (19th in 19:53.37), Amairany Cruz of West Noble (20th in 19:54.83) and Lakeisha Thieme of Fort Wayne North (24th in 20:06.74).

Carroll won the girls regional title with a score of 42 points. Finishing in spots 2-5 and advancing to the semi-state as a squad were Homestead (94), Fort Wayne Concordia (107), Fremont (128) and Fort Wayne Dwenger (134).

Abby Hostetler of Fremont was the regional medalist with a time of 18:41.94.



The LaGrange County boys cross country season came to an end Saturday, as no local harrier advanced from the West Noble regional meet.

Lakeland senior Joseph Trost came the closest to nabbing a semi-state berth. Trost finished one place and less than two seconds behind the 10th and final individual qualifier Robert Peck of Fort Wayne Snider. The Panther came in 31st overall in a time of 17:13.88, while Trost took 32nd in 17:15.69.

Mark Beckman of DeKalb was the top individual advancer Saturday, as he placed second in a time of 15:54.94. Other qualifiers included Valentin Emmanuel of Fort Wayne North (ninth in 16:45.08), Joseph Vandiver of East Noble (10th in 16:47.00), Manny Ratliff of Fort Wayne North (18th in 16:55.55), Dustin Starnes of Fort Wayne Northrop (16:56.71), Alex Beams of Fremont (22nd in 17:01.16), Isaiah Mortorff of Angola (27th in 17:08.18), Clayton Travis of DeKalb (29th in 17:13.24) and Nathaniel Roe of Angola (30th in 17:13.56).

Zachery Panning of Fort Wayne Concordia ran away with medalist honors with a clocking of 15:28.44.

Carroll (50), Fort Wayne Dwenger (64), Homestead (95), Concordia (101) and West Noble (126) were the top five finishers in the team standings and will advance to the semi-state meet this Saturday at 1 p.m. on the campus of IPFW in Fort Wayne.
