LaGrange County’s unemployment rate shed only two-tenths of a percent last month, dipping to 9.4 percent for October. The September adjusted rate was 9.6 percent.
A year ago, the county was still in double-digits, with 11.3 percent unemployment.
The number of unemployed listed by the Department of Workforce Development has only dropped by 246 over the past year, to 1,410 in October. During the same time period, the county has seen the number of employed increase by nearly 600. The county‘s “labor force” has seen an increase over the last year, rising from 14,687 in October 2010 to just over 15,000 currently.
