County holiday schedule for 2013 approved

Commissioners approved 12 holidays for 2013 at Monday’s meeting. County employees will be given holidays of:

    New Year’s Day – Jan. 1

    Martin Luther King Jr. Day – Jan. 21

    Good Friday – March 29

    Memorial Day – May 27

    Independence Day – July 4

    Labor Day – Sept. 2

    Veteran’s Day – Nov. 11

    Thanksgiving – Nov. 28 and 29

    Christmas – Dec. 24 and 25

    New Year’s Eve – Dec. 31

    Commissioners decided against having a mandatory training day on President’s Day. They cited an excess of texting, e-mailing and general in-attention as the reason for dropping the day as a paid day for training.
