The LaGrange County Council approved two requests Monday morning that will assist two county school districts.
The council approved the recommendation to have a deputy hired as a resource officer for Prairie Heights School Corporation. The approval included filling the vacant spot within the sheriff’s department.
Under the agreement with the district, Prairie Heights will cover the officer’s cost, including salary and benefits, as well as fuel and maintenance costs for a vehicle.
The council also approved a request for $5,000 from the infraction deferral fund for the Junior ROTC program at Lakeland High School. The funding will go for uniforms and equipment for the 20-plus students participating in the program.
