The LaGrange County Council on Aging held its 10th Annual “Striking Out For Seniors” Bowl-A-Thon. The bowl-a-thon raises money for the LaGrange County Council on Aging’s programs, including its public transportation program LCAT (LaGrange County Area Transit). The event raised $3,800.
Numerous awards were given out at the event. Ted Strawser raised the most money out of all the participants, over $1,600. The “Oldies, But Goodies Team” award went to the LaGrange County AARP group TEAM that had a combined age of 382 years. Members of the AARP team included LuLu May Carney, Joe Feiertag, Sandy Shields, Alan Wagner, and Duane Winans.
In first place was team “3-Peat Wanna-Bees.” The team was comprised of Wayne Bieberich, Mark Bieberich, Tim Bieberich, Carrie Bieberich, and Randy Huth. Second place went to the Methodist Church team of Tom Smith, Floyd Mast, Harvey Glick, Ted Strawser, and Rick Gregg. In third place was the team “Bowling for Boobies,” who were raising awareness of the transportation program for cancer patients needing transportation to and from their cancer treatments. The team was comprised of Cheri Perkins, Kristyn Steele, Vicki Baltes, Amanda Mainstone, and Russ Howe.
The next event on the LaGrange County Council on Aging’s agenda is the Senior Expo. It will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 15, at the MEC in Howe. Businesses can get a booth at the event to showcase their business/service to senior citizens. The senior expo is being designed to include other counties than just LaGrange County. Entertainment, fun activities, health screenings, and more will be offered at the senior expo for little or no cost.
