Concord girls nip Lakeland

Alexis Williams’ three-point play in the waning seconds lifted Concord past Lakeland, 55-51 in a varsity girls basketball contest played Tuesday night in LaGrange.

Moments prior to the Williams trey, MacKenzie Rutter connected on a shot from beyond the three-point arc to put Concord ahead, 52-51.

Williams finished atop the Concord scoresheet with 20 points. Rutter totaled 12 markers and Tyler Roberson had 10.

Abi Thompson produced 25 points and eight rebounds to spearhead the Lady Laker effort. Nicole McKibben netted 10 points, Becca Levitz eight points and six steals, and Ashtin Kaminer four points, five steals and three assists.

The setback dropped Lakeland to 4-5 on the season.
