The LaGrange County Community Foundation (LCCF) Board of Directors is asking local residents to submit nominations for the fifth annual LCCF Heart of Gold Award. The award honors an ordinary LaGrange County citizen who has consistently displayed a volunteer spirit which has made a difference in the lives of others.
Previous Heart of Gold Award alumni include Dave Clark, 2010; Rhonda Bartlett, 2011; Colton Strawser, 2012; and Randy Packer, 2013. The deadline for this year’s nominations is Friday, Aug. 29.
The LCCF Board of Directors will select the 2014 recipient of the Heart of Gold Award from nominations received. The recipient will be an individual who: identifies a need and fulfills it; recognizes and acts upon opportunities; shares time and energy for the sake of others; overcomes unusual challenges in serving others; renders a service which changes lives; works to create positive change; inspires others to volunteer; and/or performs an exceptional act of kindness.
All nominees will be recognized for their service. The award recipient will have the opportunity to direct a $1,000 grant to the LaGrange County charity of his or her choice from a list approved and provided by LCCF, and will have his or her name engraved on a plaque on display at the community foundation.
Recognizing and encouraging dedicated volunteer service is one aspect of the mission of LCCF, which is to inspire and sustain generosity, leadership and service in the community.
The 2014 Heart of Gold Award nomination form is available on the LCCF website at www.lccf.net or at the LCCF office located at 109 E. Central Ave., Ste. 3, LaGrange, IN 46761. The deadline for applications is Friday, Aug. 29.
