Commissioners approve debris management plan

County commissioners approved a resolution on the removal of debris in the event of a disaster Monday morning.

Stewart Bender, local emergency management director, told commissioners the resolution is necessary to qualify for any Federal Emergency Management Act (FEMA) funding to help with the cost of cleanup following a disaster.

Announcement was made by Commissioner Garry Heller that there will be a workshop on the removal of debris at the Northeast Indiana Solid Waste Management District from 9 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 14, in Ashley.

Persons desiring to attend the workshop must register and should contact Heller for additional information.
