The LaGrange County Council on Aging (COA) is scheduling rides to the polls on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 6. The announcement was made by Cheri Perkins at the Monday county commissioners meeting.
Perkins also asked commissioners to sign two vouchers to the State of Indiana. The first voucher is for the regular quarterly payment of public transportation funds and the second voucher is for a vehicle that will be furnished by the Indiana Department of Transportation.
Perkins also shared that the local agency recorded 4,512 trips in September, the largest count ever. In all 38,492 trips were made in 2011 with 10 vans according to Perkins’ report.
Keith Gillenwater, local EDC president, noted that several local officials have been invited to take a trip to Muncie to get a firsthand view of a “shell building” such as was proposed earlier in the year for Fawn River Crossing.
Commissioner George Bachman reported that the Shipshewana Lake sewer project will be substantially completed by mid-November.
