Cleo E. Hartzler, 84, Topeka, died Monday, August 4, 2014 at his residence.
He was born February 19, 1930, in Topeka, to Dana and Dorothy (Zimmerman) Hartzler.
He was a graduate of Topeka High School and Goshen College. He was a farmer and rancher and attended the LaGrange First Church of God.
He was married October 3, 1953, Mishawaka, Ind., to Phyllis Oesch. She survives.
Also surviving are two children, Diane (Randy) Harvell, Middlebury, and Kent Hartzler, Ligonier; two grandchildren, Brooke (fiancé Marco Gabriele) Harvell, Middlebury, and Casey Hartzler, Ligonier; two stepgrandchildren, Melissa (Jeff) Atkinson, Elkhart, Ind., and Amy Harvell, Indianapolis, Ind.; two stepgreat-granchildren; and one sister, Carolyn Hartzler Leichty, Auburn, Ind.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings, Nolen and Marilyn.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Thursday, August 7, and Friday, August 8, at Maple Grove Church in Topeka.
Celebration of Life service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, August 9, at the LaGrange First Church of God with Pastor Nancy Warren and Pastor Harold Gingerich officiating. A gathering will be at 9:30 a.m. at Maple Grove Church in Topeka to proceed to the cemetery for the committal.
