A child was airlifted to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Ft. Wayne after an accident shortly after 5 p.m. Wednesday on US 20 at CR 400E.
According to reports, a pickup truck driven by Marlin Yoder, 19, of Millersburg was traveling southbound on CR 400E and failed to stop at the intersection with US 20. Yoder’s vehicle struck a pickup driven by David Burgess, 57, of Howe that was eastbound on US 20. Burgess’ truck rolled several times before coming to rest in a ditch on the south side of the US 20. Yoder’s truck ended up in the ditch on the north side.
A juvenile in the rear seat of Yoder’s truck was ejected onto US 20. The child and Yoder were flown to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Ft. Wayne.
A passenger in one of the vehicles, Marilyn Wingard, 18, of LaGrange was taken to Parkview LaGrange Hospital with facial lacerations. An unidentified passenger was also taken to Parkview LaGrange Hospital.
Yoder received citations for disregarding a stop sign, no seatbelt, and no child restraint.
