Charles Stephens

Charles L.R. “Chuck” Stephens, 82, Goshen, Ind., died Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at IU Health Goshen Hospital.

    He was born August 4, 1932, in Wildwood, Mich., to Raymond and Rose (Williams) Stephens.

    Living in Goshen since 1962, he worked at the Elkhart County Highway Department for 8½ years until retiring in 1985. He also worked for the Goshen Water and Sewer Department for 10 years. He was a Korean War veteran, serving in the U.S. Army from 1950-1955.

    He was married June 11, 1960, in LaPorte, Ind., to Mary (Baker) Gibson. She survives.

    Also surviving are two sons, Ronald Stephens, Angola, Ind., and Roger Stephens, The Phillippines; three daughters, Roxanne Buzzard, Angola, Ind., Robin (Perry) Yoder, Shipshewana, and Rebecca (Dana) Stanley, Topeka; 15 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; one brother, Frank Stephens, Watersmeet, Mich.; and five sisters, Anna Dreibelbis, Shirley Turner, Barbara Tello, Raeann Stephens and Millie Kuta.

    Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, November 1, at West Goshen Church of the Brethren with Pastor Norm Replogle officiating.

    Burial will be in West Goshen Cemetery.

    Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association or American Lung Association.
