Charles Sautter

Charles J. Sautter, 87, Howe, died Monday, December 16, 2013 at Miller’s Merry Manor of LaGrange.

    He was born February 7, 1926, in LaGrange, to Melvin H. and Erma (Pocock) Sautter.

    Living all his life in LaGrange County, he retired from Ross Lab in Sturgis, Mich., where he worked from 1950-1985. He was a WWII veteran, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was a member of Lima Presbyterian Church in Howe and LaGrange American Legion Post 215.

    He was married January 21, 1950, in Howe, to Kathryn O. Taylor.  She survives.

    Also surviving is one daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Steven Knoop, Greenfield, Ind.; one son and daughter-in-law, Melvin P. and Anita Sautter, North Manchester, Ind.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Lucille Oliver, and one brother, Virgil M. Sautter.

    Visitation is 3-6 p.m. Thursday, December 19, at Frurip-May Funeral Home in LaGrange.

    Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, December 20, at Frurip-May Funeral Home in LaGrange with Reverend David Hughes officiating. 

    Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Howe.

    Memorials may be directed to Lima Presbyterian Church.
