Charles E. Rasler, 85, LaGrange, died Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at Parkview Noble Hospital in Kendallville, Ind.
He was born January 20, 1928, in LaGrange County, to Homer R. and Lela (Fritz) Rasler.
Living all his life in LaGrange County, he worked at Commodore Homes in Syracuse, Ind. and the Kendallville Foundry. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the LaGrange American Legion Post 215 and Kendallville VFW Post 2749.
He was married June 24, 1949, in Kendallville, Ind., to Hilda M. Garrison. She preceded him in death on February 11, 2008.
Surviving are seven sons, Charles (Barbara) Rasler, Pat (Kelly) Rasler, and Andy Rasler, all of LaGrange, Gary (Candy) Rasler, Wolcottville, Ed Rasler and companion Cindy, Big Turkey Lake, Tim (Madeline) Rasler, Pretty Lake, John Rasler and companion Yolanda, Noble County; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Barbara Stewart, Noble County, June Leas, Hamilton, Ind., and Phyllis Phillips, Ashley, Ind.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two grandsons, Jeffrey and Robby Rasler, one sister and one brother.
Graveside services with military rites by Kendallville VFW Post 2749 will be 11 a.m. Saturday, August 10, at Lake Bethel Cemetery in rural LaGrange with Chaplain James Piepenbrok officiating. A memorial gathering will follow at Kendallville VFW Post 2749.
