Charles D. Ramer, 87, Shipshewana, died Sunday, January 27, 2013 at his residence.
He was born February 22, 1925 in Wawaka, Ind., to Carl and Mildred (Caldwell) Ramer.
Moving from Noble County, Ind., to the LaGrange County area over 50 years ago, he was a self-employed livestock hauler and a member of the LaGrange Church of God. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy.
He was married October 13, 1945, in Cosperville, Ind., to Janis M. Riddle. She survives.
Also surviving is one daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Ransom “Randy” Smith, LaGrange; three sons and daughters-in-law, Phillip and Rebecca Ramer, Goshen, Carl and Debra Ramer, Auburn, Ind., and Malcolm and Kim Ramer, Bristol; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one brother and sister-in-law, William and Betty Ramer. Shipshewana.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Merrill Ramer.
Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, January 30, at Frurip-May Funeral Home in LaGrange.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, January 31, at Frurip-May Funeral Home in LaGrange with Reverend Brian VanOsdol officiating.
Burial will be in Shore Cemetery, Shipshewana.
