Charles “Gib” McDonald, 81, LaGrange, died Sunday, April 8, 2012 at his residence.
He was born April 7, 1931, in Sherwood, Mich., to Gilbert and Florence (Kime) McDonald.
Living all his life in LaGrange, he worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 30 years and was a realtor for 20 years at Coldwell Banker Schrock Real Estate in LaGrange. He was a Korean War veteran, earning the rank of Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force. He was a 50-year member of LaGrange American Legion Post 215 and a 50-year member and past master of Meridian Sun Lodge #76 F&AM. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in LaGrange.
He was married March 28, 1954 to Margaret Ellen Schrock. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Maribeth (Ace) Howard, Howe, and Sue Ellen McDonald and her companion Jessica Koscher, both of Elkhart; one son, Steve (Debra) McDonald, Shipshewana; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Max McDonald.
Visitation is 2-7:3 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, at Frurip-May Funeral Home in LaGrange. A Masonic Service will be held at 7:30 p.m.
Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, April 12, at First United Methodist Church in LaGrange with Reverend Chris Danielson officiating.
Burial with military rites by LaGrange American Legion Post 215 will be in Greenwood Cemetery, LaGrange.
