The Prairie Heights School Board met on June 18 and discussed changes to be made for the 2012-2013 school year.
One of the changes being made is new times that students and teachers are to arrive by and leave school. For the teachers, the scheduled time is 7:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Elementary school is now in session from 8:11 a.m. until 3:15 p.m., middle school will be in session from 8:10 a.m. until 3:18 p.m., and the new time for the high school is 8:10 a.m. until 3:23 p.m.
Along with the new times comes new teachers. Chris Ellert is a new teacher at Prairie Heights Elementary School. Amanda Walker is a new teacher at Prairie Heights Middle School and Bradley Finken will be welcomed as Prairie Heights High School’s new business teacher.
As the corporation says hello to new teachers, it also has to say goodbye to old ones. Jennifer Gilbert resigned as an art teacher at the high school, Todd Gerbers as the middle school football coach, and Elaine Skiles as a biology teacher at the high school.
It was announced that four new positions in the school corporation are now being offered: Director of Student Activities, Director of Data Accountability, Technology and Assessment, and Secondary Technology Coach. The positions will be filled at a later date.
