Chamber to hold 5th Annual Power of the Purse

The LaGrange County Chamber of Commerce’s 5th Annual Power of the Purse, sponsored by CenturyLink and the Farmstead Inn and Conference Center, will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 18, at the Farmstead Inn and Conference Center in Shipshewana. The Power of the Purse is a luncheon, fashion show, auction and silent auction all wrapped up into one. Proceeds from this event go to the Community Harvest Food Bank so the LaGrange Clothes and Food Basket can bring food back to the county to feed those less fortunate.

There are many businesses that make the Power of the Purse a very successful event, working side by side with the Chamber staff making sure the event goes off without a hitch.

Chamber members that will be models this year are Emily Grinager, Joel Spaw, Bill and Deb Eberhard, Sara Stutzman, Lynette Carpenter, Monica Hollers, Joy Sharp, Brenda and Morgan Troyer and Vanessa Brown.

Two others who help make the day a realization are Michael Strawser, who takes in the bids from the purse auction, and Guy Thompson, who photographs all the memorable moments.

Last year’s event reaped in over $6,500 in donations, which enabled the Community Harvest Food Bank to provide 10 times that per dollar of food for needy people in the county. This year the Chamber hopes to raise even more.

Donations have been steadily coming into the Chamber for the event but there is still time to get involved! You can do so by donating a purse, sponsor a purse, sponsor a table (includes four tickets), donate a silent auction item, make a monetary donation, and/or purchase tickets…..all for a great cause and it is so much fun!

For more information on the POP event, call the Chamber office at 260-463-2443.

If you are unable to attend the event but would like to make a donation, mail the donation to LaGrange County Chamber of Commerce, 901 S. Detroit St., LaGrange, IN 46761.
