Central Noble forged a hard-fought, 3-2 NECC girls tennis win at Prairie Heights this past Monday.
A three-set victory by No. 1 singles player Marleen Conrad over Lady Panther Ruth McNabb secured the decisive point for the Lady Cougars. No. 3 singles player Emily Maneke and the No. 2 doubles unit of Alison Stangland-Tiarra Bridegroom tallied the other two CN markers.
Winning for Prairie Heights was Amber Handshoe at No. 2 singles and the No. 1 doubles team of Marie Talmage-Makyla York. Handshoe needed three sets to finally dispose of Bonnie Wysong, while Talmage and York swept Courtney Steele and Katrina Hatch in two sets.
“This was a very tough match to lose,” commented Prairie Heights coach Jake Christen. “I was pleased to see our No. 2 singles and No. 1 doubles pick up wins. Amber (Handshoe) had to dig down and pull off a tough, three-set match.”
