Central Noble edged Prairie Heights, 2-1 in NECC boys soccer Tuesday night in Albion.
Darrin Cole staked the Panthers to a 1-0 lead with a goal 94 seconds into the match. Karlea Boleyn and Christian Granados each earned an assist on the tally.
Later in the first half, Central Noble knotted the count at 1-all on a goal by Daniel Tieman. Eight minutes into the second half, Connor McCoy’s shot took a bad hop which eluded Panther keeper Kyle Burkholder and gave the hosts a 2-1 lead.
Prairie Heights, which finished the match with an 18-12 advantage in shots on goal, had one last chance for the equalizing marker in the final seconds. However, an indirect kick from the 18-yard line was cleared away by the Central Noble defense as the clock ran out.
Burkholder wound up with five saves.
