Car versus cattle

Officers from the LaGrange County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched shortly before 11 p.m. on July 2 to an accident on US 20 near CR 500W.

    According to the police report, a 2002 Saturn driven by Tonya N. Yoder of Shipshewana was traveling west on US 20 when she came upon a herd of loose cattle moving across the roadway near CR 500W. Yoder was unable to avoid hitting the cattle head-on.

    She was taken to Parkview LaGrange Hospital for head and facial abrasions. Her car sustained heavy front-end damage.

    Assisting at the scene was the Shipshewana Police Department, LaGrange Police Department, Shipshewana Fire Department, and Parkview LaGrange EMS.
