The LaGrange County BZA held its final meeting for 2013 on Tuesday evening, passing four variance requests and denying one. The BZA will not have a December meeting. The next BZA meeting date will be January 21, 2014.
The board denied a developmental standard request from Loren and Bobbi Hartman at 6215N 1180E in Orland. The application was for a 12 ft. by 24 ft. addition on the north side of an existing garage, 11 ft. from the channel to Wall Lake. The standard setback is 45 ft.
Gary and Jody Spurgeon of 9330E 430S in Wolcottville had a request approved for a lake side setback of 27 ft. for a new covered deck and a 5 ft. side yard setback. The deck was already under construction when it was red tagged for not having a building permit.
Richard Dunne of 7025S 1195E in Hudson was approved for a side yard setback of 6.2 ft. for a new shed, where the standard setback is 10 ft.
A variance request for 7370N 1160W in Middlebury was approved for two side yard setbacks of 7.3 ft. for the building of a second auxiliary structure.
Salvador Nieves had a land use variance approved for a landscaping business in an A-1 zone at 1255W 700N in Howe. A site plan for a storage building for equipment will be presented for this location at the Plan Commission meeting on Monday, Nov. 25.
