A petition to vacate part of a public street in Hartzell’s Addition to Pretty Lake was approved at the county commissioners meeting Monday. Kenneth and Barbara Butler brought the petition and were represented by LoraLee Taylor of Taylor Engineering. The vacation involved 0.04 acres of land and is a parcel upon which a garage was built in 2004.
Taylor pointed out that the garage was properly constructed with a building permit. “The original owners of the Butler property were related to the Butlers and the family has always maintained and kept up the property as though it was their own,” she said.
Lowell Rauh, a property owner to the west of the street, was present at the hearing and asked where the property line of the requested vacation would be in relation to his property. The drawings attached to the petition indicated some 10 ft. from his property.
Commissioners debated briefly whether or not there may be a natural gas line in the street before approving the petition.
