Burn bans lifted

On Friday, July 27, the LaGrange County Commissioners lifted the burn ban that had been in place since June 14 for LaGrange County.

The Town of Shipshewana lifted their burn ban in conjunction with the county’s determination to terminate the emergency burn ban.

However, both the commissioners and the town council noted in their resolutions that, due to the continued drought-like conditions, everyone is encouraged to take precautions if they feel they must burn. This includes burning during favorable weather conditions, burn only during daylight hours, burn only while having water nearby, never leaving a fire unattended, and ensuring that a fire is fully extinguished.
