Host Bremen bested Lakeland, 11-3 in the finals of a varsity softball tournament played Saturday.
Seven extra-base hits and four Lady Laker errors helped fuel the Lady Lion attack. Winning pitcher Chelsea Huppert scattered 10 hits and struckout four.
Ashton Miller went 3-4 at the plate with a double and an RBI for Lakeland. Jill Mingus and Molly Landers both had two hits and Abby Bustos drove in a run.
Lakeland reached the finals thanks to an 11-0 spanking of Culver Academy. Kristen Wiese knocked in two runs with two hits and Bustos socked an RBI double. Also bashing RBI safeties were Mingus, Miller and Paige Gust.
Gust and Aspen Bond combined to hurl a two-hit shutout for the Lady Lakers. The duo struckout eight and did not walk a batter.
Bremen trimmed Westview, 5-0 in the other semifinal battle. Sidney Byrkett, Rachel Johns, Brooke Yoder and Hannah Witham had the Lady Warrior hits. Sam Pfenning took the pitching loss.
Westview roared back to blast Culver Academy, 20-1 in the consolation game. Amber Roth tripled, doubled, singled and drove in three runs for the Lady Warriors. Brooke Wigner knocked in four runs with a double and a single. Karis Brewer had two hits and three RBI, Witham collected three hits and scored four runs.
Annie Sharick got the pitching win. Sharick allowed four hits, walked four and whiffed one.
