Boys sectional golf results

Lakeland’s Lukas Long came up one shot shy of advancing out of the IHSAA boys golf sectional Saturday afternoon in Goshen.

Long toured the Black Squirrel Golf Course layout in 78 strokes, carding a one-over par 37 on the back nine. Kevin Woodyard of Bremen and Peyton Kime of Concord each fired a 77 to grab the last two individual qualifying slots to this Thursday’s IHSAA regional tournament at Stonehenge Golf Club in Warsaw.

Jimtown’s Broc Maurer shot an even-par 72 to claim the other individual regional berth and tie Fairfield’s John Stack for the low round. Stack bested Maurer in a playoff to garner medalist honors.

Northridge edged NorthWood, 313-314 for the sectional team championship, followed by Fairfield in third with a score of 321. Those three teams also advance to the regional.

Lakeland finished fourth in the team standings with a 335. Following Long in the Laker lineup were Brad Pearson with an 80, Isaac Kilgore with an 85, Alec Wannemacher with a 92 and Cole Long with a 99.

Prairie Heights came in with a 369 and Westview with a 397. Nick Bennett carded an 84 to pace the Panthers, while Nate Gerardot’s 95 led the Warriors.
