Bobby R. Stephens, 73, Elmira, died Thursday, July 18, 2013 at his residence.
He was born July 3, 1940, in Wilder, Tenn., to Beecher L. and Wilma (Franklin) Stephens.
He has lived in this area for 52 years, coming from Tennessee. He worked at the Kendallville Foundry in Kendallville, Ind., and retired from the Sturgis Foundry in Sturgis, Mich. He was president of GMP Local 262 for many years and coached Little League baseball and coached and played slow pitch softball.
He was married January 17, 1961 to Anna Owens. She preceded him in death on February 14, 2009.
Surviving are one son, Danny Stephens, Stroh; good friend and caregiver Denise Harp, Orland; two stepsons, Kenny Freed, Garrett, Ind., and Michael Freed, Washington; four grandchildren, Brandi Mullens, Rome City, Michael Mullens, Rome City, Traci Dean, Kendallville, and Kyle Stephens, Butler, Ind.; one great-granddaughter, Serenity Mullens, Rome City; seven sisters, Diana Glant, Tennessee, Pat Hoover, Chicago, Ill., Brenda Ratcliff, Chicago, Ill., Sharon Jesse, Kendallville, Sandy Shook, Kendallville, Kim Shook, Kendallville, and Kathy Scwab, Nashville, Tenn.; and two brothers, Rick Stephens, LaOtto, Ind., and Mike Stephens, California.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Pam Miller, three sisters, Geraldine Geer, Rebecca Bryum, and Charlotte Eichorn, and one brother, Buddy Stephens.
Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, July 22, at Young Family Funeral Home Kendallville Chapel.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 23, at Young Family Funeral Home Kendallville Chapel with Reverend Willie Collins officiating.
Burial will be in Brushy Chapel Cemetery, LaGrange.
