Blue Gate announces 2014 sea-son shows

The Blue Gate Theater has announced its 2014 Performance and Concert Schedule. The 2014 lineup continues the Blue Gate's efforts to welcome some of the country's best known and loved performers across a variety of musical genres. Notable names on the list include Kenny Rogers, the Gaither Vocal Band, Shoji Tabuchi, the Oak Ridge Boys, Lonestar, and many more. Along with over 80 concerts, the Blue Gate will continue to produce hit musicals and add one more to their musicals catalog.

New to the musical lineup this year is Josiah for President, an adaptation of the bestseller by Martha Bolton. The story follows an Amish farmer by the name of Josiah who becomes a write-in candidate for the Presidency of the United States...without his consent or knowledge. The musical follows this man of peace and character as he brings common sense and unity to a struggling nation. Martha Bolton was the genius behind the two previous stage adaptations for the Blue Gate's The Confession and Half-Stitched and has written comedy for such performers as Bob Hope, Phyllis Diller, Mark Lowry and authored over 50 books. Perhaps the most important credential in writing a book on the presidency is the fact that Bolton has penned words for Ronald Ragan, Jimmy Carter, George Bush, and Bill Clinton.

"The Blue Gate Theater will be entering its 18th year and was originally established out of the Riegsecker Marketplace ‘Meeting House’ as a means to provide tourists and locals who are visiting Shipshewana with outstanding evening entertainment, while staying true to the cultural roots of the community," according to Director of Marketing Andrew Rohrer. The original shows proved so successful that when the new Blue Gate Restaurant was built, it was expanded to accommodate a new professional theater space.
