Billy Slone

Billy Fred Slone, 71, LaGrange, died Friday, September 9, 2016 at his residence.

    He was born on December 1, 1944, in Lackey, Ky., to William “Bill” and Renda (Hall) Slone.

    He was a Vietnam veteran, serving in the U.S. Army, was the night foreman at Machine-Rite in LaGrange for many years and also worked at the University of Kentucky Convention Center and Miller’s Super Valu.

    He was married September 18, 1987, in Prestonsburg, Ky., to Deborah (Walchle) Burger. She survives.

    Also surviving are his five daughters, Jenell (Brett Maskow) Burger, Howe, Kristy (Chad) Hochstetler, Wolcottville, Amie Burger, Howe, Melanie (Noah Ream) Burger, Sturgis, Mich., and Carmen (James Tabor) Lee, Grayson, Ky.; eight grandchildren, Massie Maskow, Ashlyn Maskow, Steele Hochstetler, Chloe Hochstetler, Brody Tabor, Tyler Lee, Davy Weaver (Lindsay Appleton) and Reece Ream; two great-granddaughters, Allison and Leah Harold; three sisters, Marcella Slone, Jane (David) Betts and Marie (Rodger) Laramore, all of Florida; one brother, John E. Slone, Kentucky; a brother-in-law, Clarence ”Bud” Chaffins, Kentucky; and aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Frieda Mae Chaffins, a sister-in-law, Shirley Slone, a brother-in-law, Freddy Slone, and a granddaughter, Dorothy (Dottie) Weaver.

    Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, October 8, at Greenwood Cemetery, LaGrange.

    Memorials may be directed to the Shriners Hospitals for Children or Vernon Manor Home for Children.
