The Big Give III will be held from 9 a.m. until noon on Saturday, Nov. 16, at the Shipshewana Event Center.
The Big Give events, hosted by the Shipshewana Ministerial Association, have been well received by area families experiencing financial hardships. The previous two years resulted in numerous families lined up around the building to find items that they needed at the event. The Big Give III promises to be just as popular. The Shipshewana Ministerial Association has made a few adjustments to accommodate the high response toward this community service event.
This year a drive-thru line will be made available to receive one Blessing Box of preboxed food per car. The Blessing Box is packed with food items to create a tasty menu of 10 meals to feed a family of four. No food will be distributed inside the building this year.
A wide variety of items will be available to families inside the Shipshewana Event Center. Items will include coats, hats, gloves, various clothing items, laundry soap, dish soap, hand soap, toilet paper, shampoo, and toothpaste.
Haircuts will be provided for those attending. Blood pressure checks will be available for those who wish to inquire about a medical concern. There will also be a photographer on site to take an 8x10 family portrait. A variety of informational booths will be accessible as well. Everything is free of charge.
The Big Give III is a community service event supported through generous gifts to the community emergency fund administered by the Shipshewana Ministerial Association. For more information, call 260-768-4240.
The event is being organized and supported by the Shipshewana Ministerial Association, Brethren Retreat at Shipshewana Lake, Lima United Methodist Church, Marion Mennonite Church, Shipshewana United Methodist Church, Shore Mennonite Church, Scott United Methodist Church, and Eden Worship Center.
