Edward Berger of Topeka, is among 35 students from Heidelberg University who were inducted into Alpha Lambda Delta, a national honor society that recognizes academic excellence among first-year students. Berger is a freshman majoring in music.
The induction ceremony was held on campus. To qualify, students must have achieved a 3.5 or better grade-point average during their first year.
Alpha Lambda Delta has more than 230 chapters throughout the United States and more than 750,000 students have been inducted since the first chapter was started 75 years ago.
Founded in 1850, Heidelberg offers 30 majors, 29 minors and 10 pre-professional programs, awarding the Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, bachelor of music degrees, as well as master's degrees in education, counseling, business administration and music.
