Bennie Johnson

Bennie A. Johnson, 64, LaGrange, died Sunday, October 2, 2016 at his residence.

    He was born February 7, 1952, in Sharkey, Ky., to Bennie O. and Violet (Hicks) Johnson.

    Moving from Kentucky to LaGrange County in 1966, he worked for many years at Machine Rite in LaGrange and was a custodian for Lakeland School Corporation. He also helped his sister deliver flowers at Robin’s Nest Floral and Gift Shop. He was a 15-year heart transplant survivor.

    Surviving are two daughters, Katrina (John) Freed, Evansville, Ind., and Jessica (Joe) Cassel, LaGrange; five grandchildren, Madeline and Emma Freed, Austin Collins, and Braeden and Callen Cassel; five sisters, Evelyn Reddick, Howe, Carolene (Glen) Jackson, Howe, Diane (Porter) Bowdish, Howe, Edwina (Art) Myers, Montgomery, Mich., and Robin (Chad) Tuttle, Howe; and many nieces and nephews.

    Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, October 4, at Frurip-May Funeral Home in LaGrange.

    Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 5, at Frurip-May Funeral Home in LaGrange with Reverend Glen Jackson and Reverend Mark Emelander officiating.

    Burial will be in Ontario Cemetery, rural Howe.
