A five-piece bedroom suite. A white oak trestle table. A drop-leaf table with four chairs. Where can you see them all under one roof? At the Shipshewana Auction Barn on Friday, Aug. 1, beginning at 3:30 p.m.
LaGrange County Habitat for Humanity is in the collection business these days. Quality hand-crafted furniture pieces are among the articles on the truck, besides the usual antiques and miscellaneous items.
The premier offering this year is a five-piece cherry bedroom suite in the Berwick style. Included is a queen bed, a dresser with mirror, a nightstand, and a chest-of-drawers.
Auction buyers will also have the opportunity to bid on a trestle table, another item made locally in LaGrange County. This table is 42”x72,” extendable to 96” with two leaves, crafted from quarter-sawn white oak with an onyx finish.
Finally, there will be a five-piece drop-leaf table set in brown maple. Four matching chairs are part of the grouping. Other furniture items will include occasional chairs, a pie safe, and other miscellaneous furniture pieces.
