On June 28th-30th, 2013, the Indiana Fiddler’s Gathering will take place at the Tippecanoe Battlefield Park in Battle Ground, Ind.
Held annually since 1973, the Indiana Fiddler’s Gathering is a nationally renowned three-day traditional acoustic music festival featuring some of the country’s finest old-time, bluegrass, Irish, and folk musicians on one stage.
Headlining this year’s Indiana Fiddler’s Gathering is legendary guitarist Frank Vignola performing with Vinny Raniolo. The incredible Vishten from the Prince Edward Islands, and fiery fiddler Betse Ellis will perform as well.
Also appearing will be the Volo Bogtrotters, Jeremy Morris and the Harvest Road Band, The Bigfoot String Band, The Kaiser Family Band, The Bum Ditty Barn Dance, and many others.
Concerts will be held at 8 p.m. Friday, 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. Saturday, and 2 p.m. Sunday. Discount ticket prices are available to those who buy in advance. Youths between the ages of 13 and 18 can attend each concert for a highly discounted price. Weekend passes are available. Children ages twelve and under get in free when accompanied by an adult. Free events include a 10 a.m. Saturday children’s concert, musician’s workshops Saturday and Sunday at 9:30 a.m., square and contra dance with Nightingale at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, and a gospel sing at 10 a.m. Saturday and noon on Sunday.
Regional artists will display crafts all weekend, and the Tippecanoe Battlefield Museum will be open. Food and musician’s supplies are available on the grounds, but musicians are encouraged to bring instruments.
The Tippecanoe Battlefield is located seven miles north of Lafayette, Ind., just off exit 178 on I-65. Concerts will be held rain or shine, and guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs for comfort. A limited number of primitive campsites are available to those with weekend passes for just $5 a night.
The Indiana Fiddler’s Gathering, Inc. is a registered not-for-profit organization, in cooperation with the Tippecanoe County Historical Association and the Tippecanoe County Department of Parks and Recreation.
