Attempted warrant service leads to police pursuit

On March 20, deputies from the LaGrange County Sheriff’s Department went to a residence on CR 350S to serve a warrant on a subject wanted out of Noble County. When they arrived at the residence, officers made contact with the wanted subject, Zachary Sells, 26, of Wolcottville who was sitting in the passenger seat of a 1997 Pontiac Grand Am.

According to the police report, Sells jumped into the driver’s seat and started the vehicle. Sells then proceeded to drive through several yards and onto CR 350S after officers allegedly yelled for him to stop the vehicle.

Officers chased Sells, who was driving approximately 70 mph and disregarded several stop signs. Sells was pursued for several miles until officers were able to stop his vehicle on SR 3 south of CR 800S. Sells was taken into custody without further incident.

Sells is facing charges of driving a motor vehicle while having a suspended license, criminal recklessness, and multiple traffic infractions. Charges will be forwarded to the prosecutor’s office to be reviewed.
