Argument leads to gun being drawn


Early in the morning of May 28, the LaGrange County Sheriff’s Department was called to a residence on 805E for a subject reportedly pointing a handgun.

According to the police report, there was an argument over a property line between Jerry Barker, Levi Hall, and Westley Osgood. Jeffrey Barker was called to the location by one of the parties involved who felt threatened, the report stated. When Jeffrey Barker arrived at the scene, he stepped between the arguing parties, and two young men reportedly came at him cursing and wanting to fight.

According to the report, Jeffrey Barker displayed a .45 caliber semi-automatic firearm and told the young men to back down. According to the police report, Jeffrey Barker told officers he was protecting his father, Jerry Barker, and himself.

The firearm is being held until the investigation is completed.

A report was being forwarded to the county prosecutor for review.
