Area graduation rates hold steady

LaGrange County students continue to graduate from high school at around 90 percent overall, according to numbers released by the Indiana State Department of Education Wednesday.

Prairie Heights High School showed the highest increase in its overall graduation rate over 2012, graduating 87.3 percent in 2013 compared to 85.3 percent the year before.

Lakeland High School has the highest overall graduation rate in the county at 91.8 percent, down a fraction of a percent from the 2012 rate of 92.6.

Westview High School was nearly unchanged, going from 90.5 percent in 2012 to 90.7 percent in 2013.

Statewide, the data showed that the non-waiver graduation rate was 81.72 percent, up from 80.46 percent in 2012.  The overall graduation rate for all schools was 88.6 percent, virtually unchanged from the prior year’s rate of 88.7 percent.
