The 20912 annual report for the LaGrange County Redevelopment Commission (RDC) was approved at a meeting of the RDC Fri. morning. Members of the board for the 2012 year were Meredith Cameron, president; Fred Brown, vice president; Gregory Johnson, secretary; Kay Myers, treasurr; and members Robert Bond, George Bachman, Dorothy Hostetler and John Senecal.
The report notes that LaGrange County Commissioners passed an ordinance in May, 2012, to increase the RDC board from five to seven members.
· Property Tax Revenue of $28,586 went to Bloomfield TIF district;
· $179,253 to Lima Twp. District;
· $99,679 to the Newbury Twp. TIF district.
Disbursements from each district included $20,568 from Bloomfield, mostly for road improvements on CR 200E; $98,896 from Newbury, mostly to the Town of Shipshewana Redevelopment District; and $270,146 from the Lima District.
Major expenditures at Lima were to the LaGrange County Regional Utility District of $65,101 as an operations subsidy; $17,000 to USI Consultants for a preliminary engineering report for infrastructure expansion at Fawn River Industrial Park; $25,000 to assist Therma-Tru Corp. with a parking lot expansion (which allowed for additional employees); $30,225 for a water mixing system at Fawn River; and $125,000 to LaGrange County as repayment on a loan from the Major Moves Fund which was used to construct infrastructure at Fawn River.
The RDC committed to funding up to 75% of the total cost for a drainage project at the intersection of CR 200E and 25N. The total project cannot exceed $80,000 in reimbursement and the remainder will be paid by LaGrange County REMC.
Funds on hand at the end of the year were $113,597 in Bloomfield; $420,336, Lima and $47,420 in Newbury. The RTDC voted Fri. to recommend to the LaGrange County Council that $45,000 be paid from Newbury to Westview School. This is in payment of the costs incurred by Westview in running utilities to the new Meadowview School.
