An Angola man is in the LaGrange County Jail following a pursuit out of Michigan Wednesday morning.
According to the LaGrange County Sheriff’s Department, they were contacted by St. Joseph County, Mich., law enforcement for an assist in the pursuit of a vehicle shortly after midnight Wednesday.
Officers arrived at the scene on CR 100E just south of the state line, where the suspect vehicle had crashed during the pursuit.
The driver, identified as Nelson L. Wooster, 33, of Angola, reportedly fled on foot following the crash, but was detained by a Sturgis Police officer.
LaGrange Police Officer Clark and his K-9, Esko, searched Wooster’s vehicle and reportedly had a positive alert. Officers located marijuana and 4.9 grams of pseudoephedrine pills in the vehicle, according to the police report. Lithium batteries were also located in Wooster’s pants pockets, the report stated.
Woosterwas taken to the LaGrange County Jail following evaluation by the LaGrange County EMS. He was booked on preliminary charges of Resisting Law Enforcement with a Vehicle, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Precursors, Pseudoephedrine Buyer Violation, Maintaining a Common Nuisance, Driving While Suspended, and an outstanding warrant for failure to appear.
