Angola Girls upend Prairie Heights

Angola kept its perfect NECC girls basketball record intact last Friday night with a 65-53 victory at Prairie Heights.

The Lady Hornets used a 20-6 burst in the third quarter to take control of the contest and eventually claim their seventh league win without a loss. The 12-point triumph over the Lady Panthers also stretched Angola’s overall winning streak to a dozen.

Rachel Rinehart, who contributed 11 points to Angola’s third-period run, finished with 19 markers to lead all scorers. Teammates Megan Davis and Ericka Rinehart swished 14 and 12 points, respectively.

Tressa Terry netted 15 points and Shawna Carbone put in 13 to spearhead the Lady Panther scoring attack. Carbone and Emily Dunne each hauled down eight rebounds.

The setback dropped Prairie Heights to 6-2 in the NECC and to 8-4 overall.
